The walk is definitely not a race and there will be no pressure to finish in a certain time. We anticipate it will take anything from 2 to 4 hours to complete. No walkers are allowed to run or jog and no walker must pass the nominated walk leader. After registration on the night, walkers will be grouped according to their speed: we will have 3 staggered start points for strollers, intermediates and fast walkers. Please watch out for the signage on the night.
Disabled entrants are very welcome to take part but due to the nature of the event we ask you to contact us prior to completing the form as some disabilities may not find the event suitable. If a disabled entrant requires assistance from another person, this person must also enter as an individual.
T-shirts will be distributed on the night when you come along to register. Please make sure you order the correct size t-shirt as there will be limited numbers on the night.
Unfortunately we will not have the facilities to take money on the night so please do not bring your sponsor money with you. We ask that you return your sponsor money to us by Friday 18th July 2008 by sending a cheque made payable to St Ann’s Hospice to: The Fundraising and Communications Office, St Ann’s Hospice, St Ann’s Road North, Heald Green, Cheadle, Cheshire SK8 3SZ along with your sponsor forms.
We will have first aiders available at the stadium and along the route for the duration of the walk.
The Manchester Midnight Walk is a fun walk and not designed to be a challenge event, however it is 10km long! There are no hills and the walk will be on roads around the centre of Manchester. We recommend that you feel comfortable that you will be able to complete a long walk.
Yes absolutely. There is room for you to include a group name on your form and nominate a leader for your group in case we need to get in touch.
Unfortunately we cannot accommodate pets or animals on the walk except for Guide Dogs.
We recommend that you wear comfortable shoes and clothes. The walk will not be sheltered so you may need to bring some wet weather gear too. Lots of people last year added to the fun by coming in fancy dress so anything goes really!
Gates will open at 10pm ready for registration. There will also be fun entertainment going on to keep you occupied until you set off. We’ll also have a fun warm up just before midnight to get everyone ready for the off!
We have not set a minimum sponsorship amount that you need to raise, but we do ask that you raise as much as you can! We will send out sponsor forms for you to use with your confirmation letter plus there are lots of easy and fun ways you could boost your sponsor money. Just click here for some ideas.
You can ask each person that sponsors you to gift aid their donation by ticking the gift aid box on the sponsor form. Only personal donations are eligible for gift aid.
Entrants must be 11 years of age or over on the night of the event, 23rd May 2008. An adult guardian must accompany each entrant aged 11-17 for the duration of the walk. For school and Youth groups there must be a ratio of 2 adults per 5 pupils. The guardian must sign the registration form in the space provided and enter separately in to the Midnight Walk. The applications must then be submitted together and the full entry fee is applicable for both entrants.
If you have any further queries or would like to consider registering as
a volunteer on the night, please contact the Fundraising Office on 0161 498
3631 and we will be delighted to talk to you.
Parking facilities will be arranged at the stadium and will be free of charge. All details will be included in your confirmation of entry and sponsorship forms.
You will be able to purchase refreshments within the City of Manchester Stadium both before and after the event. You are welcome to bring your own refreshments to consume on the walk but NO alcohol will be permitted within the event site or during the walk. Please take all litter home with you.
Unfortunately there are no facilities to leave possessions at the City of Manchester Stadium so please do make sure that you only bring with you absolutely essential items. We recommend you bring these in a rucksack for ease during the walk. You will receive a small goody bag on the night too, which will be easy to carry.
Toilet facilities will be available at the start/end of the route and at one other designated point along the route.
