Who's Who in the Institute for Learning
& Development

Christine Lawther
Head of Education

Christine is responsible for clinical education and training at the Hospice. The role is varied and has both an internal and external perspective. Internally she is responsible for identifying the training needs of the clinical staff, and putting systems in place to manage those needs. This may involve formal or informal training, identifying appropriate job shadowing opportunities, individual support for staff undertaking courses, or guidance on identifying appropriate learning opportunities.

The external focus is in the delivery of training to health and social care providers about the practice of palliative care. This is achieved through a variety of short courses, tailor made study days and the annual conference programme run by the Hospice. In addition, Christine represents the Hospice on education matters to various external agencies.
