Lucky for Some
Eamon Mackey, 2002

There is a very special place,
Where some people I know, are lucky to go,
Or at least they are sent there,
With life's hopes quite bent.

It's a place very different
From ordinary life,
Away from the bustle
Of everyday strife.

Its staffed by some people
Of particular sort
Who always display
The kindest of minds.

But, this is not all
Of their prowess and flair
Their patience is legion
Just a marvel to see.

How do I know this
The answer is simple and true,
I had the good fortune and privilege
Of observing this crew.

Of seeing how patients are treated
As special, by all
No matter what sex, how short,
Fat, thin or tall.

So, thank you
And thank you
Again, and again
For helping to deal with,
The hurt and the pain.

To all those who use their individual expertise, talents and qualifications to help all we people whose lives have become in need of your assistance:

Thank you and thank you again and again and may God bless you and keep you safe from all harm.
